Yesterday, I slept in 'til 10. That is a big achievement for this family holiday. Mum and dad however, got to experience the pleasure of an early morning beach walk - the only part of the day that was blue sky and sunshine.
But never mind that, the rest of the day was great regardless of the weather. The town of Robe is pretty small - at least the shopping part. It's simply one very long street full of quaint little shops and cafés, mostly made from sandstone. I bought things, mum bought things. $320 spent in a flash.
I was anticipating the 'Memory Lane' shop all day - how convenient that it was the last place we visited. But there were amazing shops there. And my personal favourite, called Holiday, was perfect for me. Well, almost. The price was very much out of my range. But then, as if I even have a 'range'. Dad paid for the whole day. Heh heh.
The holiday shop had a range from posh-looking lace dresses, to contemporary books about life and adventures, to tropical smelling handcreme and bars of soap that literally smelt like the ocean (the good part. No seaweed scent or fishy smells).
Literally apart from the lace dresses, everything in the shop was my paradise. There were real shells and not-so-real starfish hung up on thin pieces of rope that you hang on the wall. There was an immense amount of jewellery, with stones in my favourite blue colour that's just too hard to describe. I've already got frangipani hairclips and everything.
Anyway, enough of that shop.
After shopping, we went home, ordered fish and chips for tea. We ate them. We watched home-renovating shows on tv, and I went to bed to read.
My nights haven't been too interesting lately.
Today, we woke up at 7am. No sleep-in for poor Cassie.
We headed off straight away, drove for a half hour, and stopped at a little café for breakfast where I had croissants with cheese, and a caramel machiatto. In my opinion, it's just a caramel latte, but it seems more american saying 'machiatto'. The café even served our hot beverages with little mentos packets on the saucers. I think they were hinting about bad breath or something.
We continued on our way, and only stopped in some town I can't pronounce for lunch. I had a salad. A big one. Have I mentioned earlier that I've been absolutely CRAVING salad this whole trip? I could go for one right now. Well, it'll be tea time soon. Pretty sure I know what I'm having already. They have the best salads in South Australia.
Anyway, we continued on our way to- ACTUALLY, no. Stop. Sorry, I left out one little detail. The town we stopped at was somewhere dad had been to as a kid. Before we ate lunch, he was determined to show us his friend, the 'bunyip'. There was this stone bridge - in the middle of the concrete, so not really leading anywhere - that held a little surprise underneath. There was a dark place under the bridge that resembled a swamp. If you put a dollar into a little slot machine next to the swamp (dad would not rest until he had a dollar to show us. We all had to scrummage through our pockets until finally, I found one.), dad's friend comes out to visit. Except he didn't sound like he was very hospitable. A giant mechanical Bunyip monster would suddenly rise up out of the merky water and roar really loudly.. and kind of creepily. It was not a scary noise, not even slightly alarming. But it did sound weird, and yes, creepy. We thought it was going to come up once... well, it came up four times.
We let a few other tourists make use out of my dollar coin.
ANYWAY, for real this time, now that I have that part done and dusted, I am here now, in Adelaide.
We arrived at around 2:30pm I think. Maybe not, I could be totally making this up. Oh well. We're staying with Pauline and Breck Tonkin, mum's good friends. After chatting over some more hot beverages, the mature adult figures went for a lovely stroll around the neighbourhood. I was going to go with them, but being the slightly (a lot) less mature, more childish figure, I decided against it. In other words, they went for a walk, I was tired, so I stayed back. And decided to blog. :)
So here I am. The adult figures are back now, back to chatting. I'm still here. Using James Tonkins room as my temporary bedroom. How weird :S
The exhaustion of this trip is piling up on me. It's so heavy, it's weighing my eyelids down, so I can't help but nanna nap. You'd think I'd be well rested after being able to sleep heaps in the car while travelling. But it's not much help.
Anyway, talking about being sleepy is making me even more sleepy, resulting in me actually typing with my eyes closed because they can't stay open. I'm not sure if I've spelt all these words correctly, but eh.
Perhaps I should open my eyes now and just publish this ridiculously long post. They've all become long posts. Sorry about that. But as if anyone is reading anyway, so I'll just apologise to my fingers for putting in so much effort. Good job fingers.
OK OK, now I need to open my eys.
Wow. All perfect spelling as well as correct grammar, EXCEPT for the very last word I wrote. Ridiculous.
That is in fact, *eyes. My apologies.
Tomorrow we'll be sight seeing through Adelaide, and attending Pauline and Breck's church. I was silently hoping to go to Paradise church, but oh well.
I'll leave you alone now, blog.
Until, whenever.
Goodbye.
